Will AT&T recognize my original sim card without unlocking?

Basically I plan on getting a 2g iphone soon, but since I'm already with AT&T do i just simply slide in my sim card without having to unlock it? Or do i have to jailbreak and unlock the phone? I plan to keep the phone as legit as possible. Thanks



EDIT: 3g as well?
