Lots of talk about the watch but I just want to know if come the 24th can you walk in and buy extra bands? I've seen no direct definitive answer on it yet.

i don't see why not. they are no more than accessories (like other accessories, it has huge profit margin), doesn't make sense for apple not to produce wall after all of them

I hope so, I'd like to pick up the leather loop at launch in store since my online order states "ships in June"

I want to buy a black sport. I'm really bummed it was not offered as an original option on the aluminum.

----------

I ordered a black online, because I agree stock will be very tight

I got two separate answers from two different Apple Store employees at two different stores. One said extra bands will "definitely" be available on the 24th, the other said he wasn't sure but he felt like they wouldn't have much of anything on the 24th given the constrained supply.

I really hope they do, as I waited to order a Milanese band separately until I could try one on, and by the time I did, ship dates had slipped to May for the band alone.

I hope so! This happened with the iPhone 6 cases - they had delayed shipping online, but were available in stores on launch day. I went in and picked up my desired colors and cancelled my online orders after I got back home. I hope to do this for my sport band and milanese loop, too! However, I pre-ordered bands just in case. During the iPhone 4 launch, bumpers were very hard to come by in store, so I was glad to have my pre-order.

Just to add my two cents... When I went to my try-on on April 10, I was there just as the store was opening.

An employee walked past with a fairly large box and I overheard him say to another employee (I assume his manager) "We've just had this in, it's full of Sports straps".

That was at the Bullring store in Birmingham, UK. So it looks like stores should have some straps at least on the 24th.

:)

Speculation on my part, but I'm fairly confident that Apple is swapping bands for fresh ones every so often for the demo units. Think about how grimy and dirty they must look after a few full days of try-ons (White Sport Band? Ick).

I'm not so sure about the stock of bands on day one given that all of them online say May or later (save for the $500 link bracelet). If anything, I could see them having Sport bands and nothing else.

I would think we will see the bands hit the store before the watches if they hold to their "online only" policy. but if they do i would be very surprised to see any accessories for sale on the 24th.

Hope I'm wrong, honestly prefer buying in store.

So I assume you liked it? Please explain

My take on it, for what it's worth:

If bands were going to be in stores on the 24th, online orders would say "delivers April 24th-May 5th."

My orders (made immediately after the watch, within the first few minutes) say 29 Apr - 12 May.

And now some of them are available to ship in June. Stores generally don't have things that are not available online.

I absolutely loved it. I wasn't sure how it would look against the aluminum Sport watch which is why I didn't order it right away. After trying it on in store and putting it on an aluminum Sport, not only did it look fantastic but it felt great. I've always had trouble with watch straps not fitting properly (seems like it's always half a notch too tight or half a notch too loose), but the Milanese fit securely and looked great.

The watch won't be in store on the 24th so I highly doubt bands will be available. Can you imagine iPhone cases in stock but no iPhones available? This is my logic and think accessories won't be available until the device is in store.

Hope I'm wrong though :D I want a white sport band and a classic buckle

I take it you've never been to the Apple store during an iPhone launch? Tons of cases and no phones for sale.

Personally I hope there are bands available. I want a Milanese!

I was told by an Apple employee that the bands will be available in store on the 24th.

Which ones and how many is the real question.
