This is the first time I feel a new iOS really is faulty. My new iPhone 13 Pro Max battery is much worse than my ”old” 12 Pro.

Should I expect improvements in upcoming iOS updates, do Apple fix this kind of issues with software or could it be something wrong with my unit?

A bit more information and context would be helpful. But the battery in your 13 should be lasting substantially longer than your 12 as it is for most of us.

Home app will use several hours a day in i the background. Don’t know what else that could be affecting the battery.

It’ll get better. Give it a handful of days. It continues to get better for me. I went from a 12pm to a 13pm. Initially battery was worse than my 12pm for several days making me worried. Now easily 40-50% better but it took several days for whatever reason.

Yes but I've got the 13 Pro Max since launch day, so now we talking weeks, not days 🤔

That could be your issue. My 13 Pro Max has been outstanding as far as battery life. I don’t use the Home app for anything so I don’t even see it in the list of apps under battery.

During the first few days, it may be downloading stuff from your icloud, which will make the battery drain faster. Also, if it is searching to connect to 5G all the time (when you don't have 5G coverage) it will drain the battery also. I noticed when the signal is weak, it will try to connect to 5G then to LTE, etc. and will also drain battery fast.

From what you have posted, it appears that you were getting about 3 hrs 56 mins, 52% battery used. That is very low battery life for a 13 Pro Max.

Have you tried doing a Settings->General->Transfer or Reset Phone->Reset->Reset All Settings. It might help.

The other thing you might consider is plug your phone into the computer, do a backup on the computer, do a DFU while connected to the computer, do a restore and finally restore from backup on the computer.

Thank you! I know I needed to start over and your words finally got me to do it. Did a DFU Restore and today everything seems fine for the first time since launch day 🙏🏻😊.

Home app still uses alot of battery in the background but that also is the case with my 2020 iPad Pro🤔

13 hours since charged to 100% and down to 65%. Pretty big different from before the restore 😄

From your battery usage chart, you used about 3 hrs 3 mins, 35% used. Estimate to 100% battery usage 8 hrs 42 mins. It could be that indexing is still happening. Give it another day to quiet down and try looking at the battery usage again.

Looking at his picture, I see he took the phone off the charger at 6am and is at 50% battery life around 4pm. Where is the problem or am I misreading the graph?

Getting around 8 hrs of battery life on a full charge is not great for the 13 Pro Max. It is pretty bad battery life.

No matter what anybody wants to hear, his iPhone is defective. He should have returned it ages ago.

But its at 50% so they could go another 8-9 hours before its 0%. You saying that's bad? Plus they running apps like Instagram......

That is why I stated to give the phone another day because it could be that the phone is indexing after doing a full restore.

And today the indexing must have done it’s job. Now at 50% after 13h since last charge with 4h screen on time.

Can you post a new battery usage chart with "SHOW ACTIVITY" selected so that the apps are shown with time rather percentage.

The 15.0.2 iOS update caused something goofy with my battery last week drain and health reading in Coconut. It actually recovered thankfully! The battery is back to excellent again. Odd.

I would give it a few days.
