Let's say I can find a best buy retail store with the model I want but the store is nowhere near me. If I call them up will they agree to do the transaction by phone and ship it to me?

I know it sounds far fetched but I'm wondering if anyone has ever tried.

It might depend on the particular store.

Perhaps your best course of action is calling the store and asking them.

Yea that was going to be my next step if nobody on here knew offhand.

For cell phones no, if you reserves one in store they will not let you activate it then send it somewhere but if you process the upgrade through best buys website then cool, they can send it to you I believe.

I work at best buy

I bet not, they know they can sell a 5s to a walk in in no time flat.

It's not even that they can sell it to someone else, it's more so for security's sake. We don't ever do an upgrade over the phone being as you need a physical signature for authorization. But you can reserve the phone for 48hours.

I'm just looking to buy device only. No credit check or upgrade necessary.

I was unable to have one transferred to my store one day before launch for apparent reasons. I then pre-paid online at 3am on launch day. Called in to see if they would then transfer it as I already paid for it. He was going to ask but I doubt they would have do to the risk of it getting lost or damaged in transit and they have to activate it before they release it. I told him not to worry about it and went and picked it up before they cancelled my order :)
