I want to install windows 8 on my 2013 iMac with 1TB fusion drive to have a go at gaming but I'm afraid that it will curse my system to the windows daemons.

Will installing windows in bootcamp screw my iMac up in some way or is it a feature I can add or remove at will with no affect on my seemingly perfect iMac (except poor gaming performance)?

Many thanks
Fred

It depends what you do. Installing Windows itself won't mess up your system. And yes, you can remove it later should you choose.

Now of course, you're responsible for what you do *while* running Windows, so I wouldn't recommend going out, downloading random stuff, and getting every possible virus and trojan.
