I'm one in the boat of a two moth wait. I'm curious if I should cancel my order and try to find one in store next Friday. If they're sold out, will brick and mortar stores be getting any for sale next Friday?

I am curious as well.

when the 5 came out 2 years ago, i walked right into a Best Buy and grabbed one first thing in the morning.

I'm thinking we may not be that lucky this time around.

If your wait is 2 months, you're talking about the 6+.

You better camp out, otherwise you're chances are real slim of getting one.

T 6+ is the Champagne iPhone of last year.

I stopped by an AT&T store on my way home just to ask if they knew what kind of inventory they would have, and a lady there told me that they had no idea what kind of inventory they would get and wouldn't know until basically the night before what models of phone they would get.

At this point, the way I look at it I am guaranteed to get two 128GB Space Grey Plusses the first week of October, so even though I'm a tiny bit disappointed I won't be getting mine next Friday, I'd hate to cancel my order only to wait in line somewhere and not be able to get the model I want.

I suppose with a two month wait I won't be out anything by canceling my order. Worst case scenario will be I have to reorder next week if I can't find one in store

I Pre-ordered my 6 plus through Sprint this morning and have a long wait until delivery as well. I called the local Sprint store and they already told me not to waste me time because they won't have a 6 Plus. I am going to call around and see what I can dig up from Target and Best Buy though. If I become lucky and get one that day....im just gonna cancel my pre-order

I gotta wait till November.. I ordered mine through AT&T. Plan on canceling mine... And trying my luck in the stores. I just feel I have a better chance and actively pursuing it rather than waiting..

My problem is that I'll have to cancel my order in order to get the subsidy. It'd be nice if I could walk in and find they have the phone before I cancel. I suppose I could, but then run the risk of it being sold while I cancel and wait for my account to reflect it.

Bottom line: Don't cancel the order, but wait in line anyway. Then if you end up walking out of a store with the phone you want, THEN you can cancel the order.

And if you leave empty-handed, oh well, aren't you glad you didn't cancel?

If available credit is an issue: bear in mind that if you ordered from the Apple online store, what you're seeing right now is only an authorization hold. The actual, formal charge doesn't happen until the phone ships, and with that ship time weeks away, the hold should fall off in a week, just in time for you to be able to buy in-store.

Just bear in mind that if you *are* crunched for credit on your card, and you walk out of the store with an iPhone, you NEED to remember to cancel that online order ASAP, because Apple WILL come back and charge that card when they finally ship, and put you in a world of hurt with your credit card company.

Oh. Yeah that's a problem.

Well, think of it this way: you have a confirmed, surefire order coming in a few weeks, versus no promise at all of getting anything at the stores. You MIGHT walk away with something on the 19th if you cancel, or you might find yourself waiting even longer when you have to re-up your online order.

I'd pick the sure bet.

I am a Verizon customer now but switching to Sprint in a much bigger market in San Diego. It won't be a problem for me to switch and cancel my order since i don't really have an active account yet.

I went through this same deal last year. You could pre order the 5c no problem but no one was taking reservations on the 5s. Same mis information and rumors of shortages. This happens every year. I went through a huge hassle with waiting up, doing the pre order. I got an order off for the 5s last year in the first 8 minutes to only see my delivery date get pushed further and further back. The day of release, on this forum I kept reading about people just walking into their local Best Buy or Walmart or any higher volume retailer and walking out with a phone in hand. Of course the gold 64gb was no joke that was the holy grail. Your basic 16gb in black or white could be had, no pre order. I fought with ATT about getting my early upgrade discount re applied to my account for hours, it was a nightmare. All said and done I walked out of a Best Buy at 9pm on release day with the 5s in hand. I suspect this year is no different. I put in my pre order at my local Target for 25 down (gift card I can use anytime) I'm first in line if they get one 6 plus on release day. If not I'll check the Best Buy inventory tracker throughout the day until I locate one.

My girlfriend was actually able to walk into an AT&T store less than a week after the 5s came out and pick up a gold iPhone like it was nothing. They had a stack of them there, and here I'd been telling her she had more chance of finding Anne Frank in an AT&T store over the gold iPhone.

I just called around to many stores and the plan i want is not offered through SPRINT at a brick and mortar. They have a new $50/month unlimited plan and thats only at the SPRINT store and they have already told me not to expect any 6 plus on launch day

My local AT&T store said the same. I will try back on Thursday, I guess.

You know the post on the front page a few days ago talking about phones being shipped to the US already? Those aren't phones for online orders, those are phones for stores. Orders will most likely come directly from China while Apple is busy filling stores with inventory.

I preordered an AT&T 16GB space grey with Best Buy. Never preordered before so I don't know what to expect. If I don't get an email with order shipment, I'll just go to my local store on Friday morning and takes my chances.

No biggie but I figured I'd preorder the one I wanted and see how it goes. I may not end up getting it on day one but ...

I thought Apple has a huge inventory for upcoming iphones this year. Is that enough to meet demand? Well I guess maybe not if in prior years folks had a hard time getting one on release day.

Call her lucky and take her to a casino, that was not the case for most people as we well now.

i plan to camp 12+hrs at a location in ohio. gonna get a 64 6+ black and a 64 6+ gold.

I've always had luck at the stores. I guess I'm forced to the store option if I want to continue my subsidized plan and adding my previous phone as credit.

I overdid it for the 5 and was so excited so I pre-ordered it right when it was released. I had to wait all the way until the end of the day until FedEx wanted to deliver my phone to finally unbox it. But right down the street from where I worked at the time the Verizon store had a line of....5 people waiting for it. LOL!! Now I am moving to a much bigger city (San Diego) and I really don't think I can expect the same luck at any store for that matter. I will try but either way I have my 6 plus on order...3-4 weeks

I've, for the most part, been in desolate places so I've been fortunate. Then when I was home on leave and decided to go wait in line in Fair Oaks mall in VA, I was overwhelmed by that line; it was no different from a concert!

So I believe with you in San Fran, lol you're going to have a Fair Oaks mall experience. But hey, it'll be fun meeting new people, getting euphoria, and seeing the Apple employees running around the line with silly songs and phrases.

The unfortunate thing though is that I would have gone out to battle the crowd but I have talked to SPRINT and they won't have the plus on hand on the 19th (so they say) and the deal that I got through SPRINT on my pre order isn't available at any other store
