Will Changing iCons affect Functionality or Cause Corruption?

I'm very sorry if this is a stupid question, but I am very careful with my machine.

I've had my Mac for years and I just recently decided to mice things up and install iOS 7 style icons form .icns files.

I replaced apps like: Safari, Activity Monitor, Microsoft Word. ect.

I know how to change them back later, but I was curious, will changing the default icon for Office or default apps like Safari cause any bugs or corrupt .plist later?

Also, if I change the Calendar app and edit the package contents for a new live updating icon, could this cause corruption?
