I’m finding some apps totally useless for Always On. Case in point, the Nike Running App. When running and glancing down at it it only shows the digital time with the app blurred out. Will developers be able to update their apps to work with this feature? If not that’s pretty disappointing as I won’t have nearly the use for it as I thought I would.

with always on, the screen updates only once a minute
It might just think nike is "sensitive data" which you can turn off the blur in settings

No, that’s not it. This isn’t a complication, it’s the entire app. When I’m running the app is completely blurred out and a digital clock is overlaid on the screen. Not what you are referencing above.

Yeah it's freaking annoying in fact when you get a notification it does that too if you don't swipe it away.

Once a second.

Also to the original point, third party apps are not yet given access to the Always On mode. It might happen in a future version of watchOS. For now Always On mode is meant to be super low-power with just basic time functionality.

No, it isn't. The Apple Workout app shows all data when working out even when dimmed. Its not meant to just show the time, but all of your relevant data which is the entire point of it. If it was just meant to show the time it would always just show a digital clock when the screen dims every single time no matter what you are doing.

I have to believe 3rd party expansion and further Apple app expansion (such as maps directions) will expand in a .5 update or more likely watchOS 7

I'd like some other stuff, not just a clock. (I don't use health or exercise stuff)

I haven't looked at AOD options. I would be ok with just the clock, but this is a Apple Watch after all.

True, good clarification.

No 3rd party access at this point, but Apple is probably demonstrating a level of functionality they feel comfortable with regards to battery life.

Does anyone know how the Siri Watch Face behaves? I know that face has access to live driving directions - but does that face just turn into a digital watch with no other information?

Once a second.

Apple (but who knows if they know what they're talking about) said:
  • Time complications, such as Stopwatch and Timer, round their displayed information to the minute.
  • Complications that show live data, such as Compass and Noise, are not active.
  • Other complications, such as Calendar, Weather, and third-party apps, refresh once per minute or as needed.

quote is from the link I posted above (and again here)
screen refresh rate is not the same as update rate of what's displayed.
