Where ever you are in the entire world, as long as you have a clear view of the sky (you're outside) and there are satellites in space you will get a signal.

for GPS
without a data connection the maps will not load, so you will not really know where you are

Doesn't help when there is no map on your device to tell you where you are at. :rolleyes:


TomTom or other GPS makers might make maps that are built into the phone. We will just have to wait and see.

Or, it could be something Google might offer with the iPhone, the ability to save maps.

Unless someone builds a GPS application that has local maps cached so you can still see some areas when you lose service. Should be nothing against that. :D
