they have release ultrasn0w on cydia witch will unlock my phone once updated to 4.0 correct? what if i do not like 4.0 will i be able go back to 3.1.2? i know if it is possible it will not downgrade my baseband witch will have been updated with 4.0 will ultrasn0w work on 3.1.2 with a 4.0 baseband?

iPhone 3g
firmware: 3.1.2
BaseBand: 05.11.07
iTunes: 9.1.1.12

Yes, you can always downgrade a 3G model to whatever firmware you want.
And since the new ultrasnow release unlocks 4.0's official baseband you will still be able to use it to unlock it if you decide to go down to 3.1.3 or 3.1.2
BTW, you need to update your itunes in order to upgrade to official 4.0
