Will I be able to downgrade a new iPhone 5 to iOS 5?

I want to get an iPhone 5, but because of my heavy reliance on Google Maps and the transit/walking routes, I was wondering if I could get an iPhone 5 and downgrade to iOS 5?

Can't you actually use Google Maps through the iPhone browser? I recently sold my 4s so can't test it out.
