My family is getting a new imac this week and i was wondering if i would be able to use the install disc to install 10.5 onto my powerbook. I was thinking maybe the disc would be intel only but i dunno. Has anyone tried this?

Because the install disks that come with the computer are only matched with the model computer that they came with to prevent people like you from robbing a sale from Apple, don't be cheap and pay the $129 if you want it that bad.

clearly i don't want it that bad. if i could get it for free this way i'd do it. if i really wanted it i don't think i would have waited this long to get it.
