Will it be okay if i upgrade my ram in my macbook pro, and only change one of the cards to make it a 2+4??

2011 13'' base model

but yeah ik ram is cheap, i could get 8gb for like 90 bucks, but i am pretty sure an upgrade to 6 would be well good enough for me, and 8gb would just be me wasting my money on more i dont need

How much are you buying the 6GB for? I'm thinking about upgrading my RAM too haha

i would buy one 4gb card to replace one of the 2gb cards in it, so 2+4=6
there are good 4gb cards on newegg for around $40

If you have a 2011 MacBook Pro, you're better off going to 8GB over 6GB for a couple of reasons. Besides the fact that it would be more RAM, the motherboard uses dual-channel RAM, meaning it works best when installed in pairs. So to matched sticks are better than two mismatched (i.e., 1 2GB, 1 4GB) sticks.
