I'm mailing in my iPhone 5 for warranty replacement because sleep/wake button is shot. Will I still receive another iPhone 5 even though they're discontinued now or is there any way I'll get a 5c?

Apple doesn't seem to like replacing phones by upgrading the customer so as mentioned you will get another iPhone 5.

Apple plans for this, also as mentioned. If you had an original iPhone Apple would replace your iPhone with an original iPhone because they still have stock.

This occasionally changes. For example I've had older iPod classics replaced with newer (i.e. larger capacity) versions under warranty/out of warranty repair, but it's rare, and usually reliant on there literally being noneleft to send out
