Will I lose my Bootcamp partition if I reformat the OS X side?

Newb question: If I reformat to do a clean ML install, will that cause me to lose my Bootcamp partition? Or will it stay completely separate? Honestly, this feels like a stupid question as "partition" should imply in itself that it's kept completely separate. But I want to be absolutely sure before I go for it.

If you reformat the drive, you will lose both partitions. If you just erase your OS X partition and reinstall, your other partition(s) will remain untouched. I'd clone the BC partition just in case before attempting this.
