Will I need an adapter for my 2011 MBP to connect it to LED Cinema Display?

I am looking at getting a 27" to connect my 13" MBP to. I am looking to get a refurbished one to save myself some cash. Two questions.

1. Apple.com says that it comes with a Mini DisplayPort cable, will that plug right into the thunderbolt port and work?

2. And is the 27" that is currently in the refurbished store the same that is in the apple stores?

I am sure the answer is no but I bought the MBP yesterday, if I buy the cinema display today, is there any way my apple care will cover both?

According to: http://store.apple.com/us/product/APPLECAREMBP-102583 it is included but I think you need to actually buy the AppleCare protection plan (which most people here, me included, would advise you to do so anyway).
