Will I need to reformat my Seagate GoFlex HDD... ?

I have my GoFlex formatted at the moment, but the OS that I have currently on my Macbook is Leopard. My question lies in that when I upgrade/install Snow Leopard this coming week onto my Macbook, will I need to reformat my Seagate, or was that Mac formatting of the GoFlex a one time necessity?
