Will Iphone 3g work with my normal o2 simcard?

Hi guys,

Im buying a locked o2 3g iphone off my mate on friday as it is an unwanted upgrade of his! i was just wondering if i used quickpwn to jailbreak the iphone 3g and then stick my normal conract o2 simcard in the phone, will it work ok?
