Will iPhone 5 cases work on 5s???

Just curious if iPhone 5 cases will work for the 5S or will it interfere with the camera?
 
It's going to come down to whether or not there is enough of a gap in the back of the case to accommodate the new dual flash. The rest of the phone has the same spec so cases should fit fine.
 
I'm guessing it will depend on if the new flash can fit and if the home button is covered. The Otterbox Defender designed for the 5 is probably out, hence their redesign. Screen protectors probably won't work with the finger print scanner.
 
Apple's official statement on this is in the FAQ section of this page:

"Do cases made for iPhone 5 also work with iPhone 5s?
While iPhone 5 and iPhone 5s have the same shape and size, the camera and LED flash are different. So cases made for iPhone 5 may affect the camera operation of iPhone 5s and vice versa. When shopping for cases, you should choose one made specifically for the iPhone model you own."

Damn, the ones Apple has are uuuuuuugly! I wanted to get a Batman one. :mad:

Speck products has come out with a statement saying their cases for the 5 will fit the 5S. We won't know until launch day.

Regarding specs, here is the comparison which shows the exact same dimensions and weight:

iPhone 5S:
Height: 4.87 inches (123.8 mm)
Width: 2.31 inches (58.6 mm)
Depth: 0.30 inch (7.6 mm)
Weight: 3.95 ounces (112 grams)

So technically, any iPhone 5 case will fit the 5S but the only thing is the new flash. It might interfere or be covered.
 
I suspect you will get flashback issues with smaller openings (i.e. Spigen Neo Hybrid or Speck CandyShell) due to the new, taller LED being too close to the rim of the camera cutout.

and incipio now has 5s cases up as well as 5 cases, and the sku matches.

Ordering mine now and will return it if it has problems.

edit- zagg is selling their hd protector for the 5/5s/5c, no difference

Thats good to know, as i have a spare screen protector ready to go on.
