will iphone software 3.0 allow volume control on the iphone in-ear buds?

the in ear buds dont have the volume control facility on the iphone so was wondering if this can or has been done in the software update?

not sure since my in-ears broke and then someone stole them... double whammy. sucks for the guy that stole them though

unfortunately no, at least not in the betas. I believe the buttons on the headphones are controlled via hardware in the socket not software on the iPhone, so I don't believe this is possible for the 3G or original iPhone.

It sucks i know :/

From what I've determined, no it can't be done. I don't think Apple was planning on releasing new headphones when the 3G came out, and because of that it doesn't have the hardware necessary to support them.
