Will iPhone support multiplayer gaming?

Sorry if someones already posted something similar, I can't find anything.

I'm not usually a big game fan but I've just had a look at some of the games that might be coming to the app store, most of them look quite interesting, but is it possible for the iPhone to support multiplayer gaming?

With the excellent games that are coming I think multiplayer over wifi would be quite a hit?

I guess there could be one but if your moving around you probably won't be in a server for a long time unless you are at home. I would also think that it would drain your battery pretty fast.

I have heard some mulitplayer game rumors but nothing solid

Well i know its definately capable cause my brother has a sidekick which doesnt even compare to the iPhone and he has some multiplayer games on it. And thats running on edge. I think with 3G we can have some pretty impressive games on it though it will drain battery.
