I bought the original iPhone some time ago, and I just pre-ordered the iPhone 3G S. Will it be ok to go buy the current 3G dock, a screen protector, and a case to "prepare" for when the phone arrives, since they "have the same form factor"?

I asked this question earlier and the answer appears to be 'yes'.

Order from somewhere with a return policy, just in case.

The dock on the Apple website lists that it is compatible with the S. I also ordered the 3G dock and screen protectors for when my phone arrives. I'm 99.999% sure it will fit. They are supposed to be exactly the same. And if you check the dimensions it lists them as the same.

like abiyng87 said, specs are exactly the same...I would double check on ordering a dock though, because I coulda swore the Apple store said the 3GS comes with a dock.

All of the case sites I have been to say the 3g and 3gs are the same. I highly recommend the incipio feather. I comes with 3 screen shields that are nice also.

In the box:

* iPhone 3G S
* Apple Earphones with Remote and Mic
* Dock Connector to USB Cable
* USB Power Adapter
* Documentation
* SIM eject tool

I was mainly worried with the dock and the screen protector. However as I double checked the website, it says the official Apple iPhone 3G is 3G S compatible. However I wonder if the oleophobic screen will play nice with a screen protector...
