I'm looking at a 13 mini for several separate tasks & wonder how it would cope I know the battery isn't the largest I'm not expecting it to last all day but it's still needs to actually function for what I need it for if it makes sense

I stream music over WiFi for 3 hours a day and then listen to offline music/podcasts for a further 4

My biggest task is carplay with maps and offline music/podcasts will it manage 4-5 hours without charging or is this pushing its limitations

Will manage 4 hours of browsing music/podcasts social media on a charge

Thanks

4 hours music streaming works. But not 4hours Maps as the gps drains a lot.

Why not plug it in the car to charge or use wireless charging mat?

Yeah, with Carplay and Maps you're gonna want it plugged in anyway. That's why wireless Carplay hasn't been a big priority for me - the battery really takes a hit while the phone is actively navigating.

That said, if you desire the mini's form factor, I think the battery will otherwise be fine for your use cases.

Charging it in the car wouldn't be the end of the world I do have wireless charging (it's not the fastest thing in the world apparently) I'd rather not ruin the battery within a year or end up with a 6S/SE 2020 where it's always needs charging

FWIW, my 12 mini with its original battery (currently at 84%) still gives me an average of 4.5 hrs SOT/day.

I am a moderate user, but always use iPhone with wired CarPlay over my under 2 hrs drives, just to have it a 100% charged when I arrive.

Other than that it is very quick to top up, especially with Apple’s 20W charger.

PS I would avoid wireless charging, as it tends to overheat the phone, which is not good for its battery.
