Will it ever be possible to do a ram upgrade on retina macbook pros?

I have a 8gb model and i want to future proof it, i won't need 16gb's until a few years, you think there will be a workaround by then?

The RAM is soldered to the logic board so isn't upgradeable.

Nope, never will - unless you want to take a soldering iron to the logic board.
