Will MBP Cover being closed

Cause heat problems? I am using my MBP with the cover closed for space constraints , connected to an external display along with keyboard and the mouse is BT.

Over all am I looking at causing damage if I do this for long term.

I'm contemplating selling it and downsizing to a Mini.

The MBP will run hotter in "clamshell" mode, but it shouldn't overheat. Its really up to you on whether the increased temps are too much. For me, I don't like the increase in temps so I keep the lid up

Thanks for the reply, if the lid is kept open , I'd prefer to NOT see the display on the MBP screen , is there a setting for this ?

no damage will be done to your machine. Apple wouldn't have made that a feature since the powerbook days if that were the case.

Mine stays closed most of the time. I open the lid when i am doing video editing. When it is open i just turn the brightness right down so the display shuts off

if you want to run it closed download the smcfan control. Then you can change the RPM of the fans
