my iphone is in 4.0.2 with a modem firmware of 05.13.04, if i update to 4.3.2 will this change my modem firmware?

Yes, the only way to preserve your unlockable baseband on your 3GS is by using a custom IPSW and restore to that.
If you update to official 4.3.2 your baseband will update also.
It will if u upgrade it with an official. Use pwnage tool to preserve the bb. I've been updating my 3GS with it and have the same one.
Pwnage hasnt been updated yet for firmware 4.3.2
It works for 4.3.1 if you want to restore to that or hold off for a week till its out.

last thing you want is something updated, that can never be downgraded
That sucks, do your hosts redirect to Apple's servers or cydias?
Cause I know cydia had problems and wasnt saving blobs for 4.3.1
i gave up at about 3am, the first attempt was with apple server then i switched to saurik and refreshed the host file but nothing, then i remembered that i never updated to 4.3.1 so the shsh blob was never recorded for that version so i ended up trying to restore with iOS 4.0 but then i got the error message 1600 (really frustrated i just hit the sack) it is still on 4.0.2 and the modem firmware is still in 05.13.04 at least
