Im running OSX 3 (panther) on one half of my partitioned HD (OS9.2.2 on the other) and I'm running short of space (obviously I need to get a new HD but....) my question is that I want to install some software to convert streamed audio to MP3 and it says I must have OSX3.9 - will my clunky old G4 handle an upgrade or am I expecting too much? all help much appreciated!

Yes it'll run fine, likely better than your current version, minor upgrades don't generally require more CPU power.

It may run 10.3 acceptably but I suspect you will have issues converting the audio in real time if it is streaming, your going to need some more Mhz.

Your G4 will probably be fine with the upgrade.

My G4 is running the current version of leopard just fine but it is 800 or so mhz.
