Anyone know if these new minis and iBooks will have the latest version of Tiger on them - 10.4.2? Couldn't see it listed anywhere. Also, if you by Tiger, isnt that also the version you should get?

I don't know. I do know that Apple doesn't update the OS that comes with new Macs every time there is a new OS update. They do it every 2-4 updates.

I believe you would get 10.4.2, as that's the version they are shipping in boxes. They probably put some other recent updates on there two. My guess is with the update, they also updated there consumer package, that they ship on all the consumer machines.

My new iMac arrived last week with 10.4.0 had to run 200 meg worth of updates. Thank god for broadband. (OK, 200 might be a very slight exaggeration)

HUh?

Why does it matter what version is on there? Just download it...
Oh, and I don't think 200 megs is an exaggeration...

Because if you don't have broadband, you're ******

I am pretty sure it would have 10.4.2 pre-installed but if it doesnt just download it from software update afterall it is only 21mb so it shouldnt take long even if you have dial up....

Shadow ;)

They might come with a variety... some might come with 10.4.2 or some may come with the 10.4.0

I think it depends on whn the drive was made and how they formatted it...

Correct me if I'm wrong.
