The band port is exactly the same. And even if it had changed, Apple likely would have been introducing new bands which would explain the changes.

Thank you. Selling my original AW on eBay to buy series 3, and was deciding whether to add my other bands in too. Guess I’ll keep them!

I'm so grateful that the old watch bands will still fit. I have a "jillion" watch bands for my older SS 42mm Apple Watch and I'm currently eyeballing the the series 3 cellular.
