Reading input from folks testing the developer beta of Ventura makes me nervous. Seems like a lot of new things and many may need more work. More than Monterey?

While the public beta will go on my spare machine for testing, an M1 iMac, seems like it may be a gamble?

haha. what? it will be: a slight forward step from the first developer betas. in general, no better or worse than any other beta, in any mac OS. finally, it will be... a beta. a gamble? by default, all betas are gambles.

and it will be fun. once the public beta people show up on this forum (am including myself), the ranting, whining, crying will be amped up 1000%. i can't wait 🤣

Then I will try and do my part. ;)

In almost 10 years of public betas I have never had any serious issue. To be fair my setup is pretty basic and I don't rely on a lot of little tools and non-standard software.

From what I have read so far, Ventura seems to be one of the better Beta's, so I'll most likely get the first one right away.

I have dual boot on a Mac Studio with Ventura on an external Thunderbolt SSD. I would recommend to hold off.
Too many niggly issues with Enclave-related issues when booting back to Monterey.

you're recommending ppl hold off because of the issue you're having 'booting back to monterey'? how many ppl are doing that?
I have noticed in the past, the people that have issues seem to be people that want to dual boot. I jump right in, head first and really see any real issues.

Me for instance. The first two betas did not allow me to connect to the internet or recognize my two ethernet connected printers. Beta three fixed those issues and I have been running with it for a couple days now with no issues.

And you were dual booting from separate partitions, or separate drives?

It doesn't matter where you dual boot from, it won't work properly... The minute you boot back to Monterey it will ask you for your iCloud credentials, the moment you input them they will stop working on Ventura and vice versa. Every time you dual boot you need to input the credentials and sync again...
