Will replacing my battery help me...

I'm on a G5 Imac 10.5 and a MacBookPro also 10.5 began with a 1.0.2 phone and unlocked that fine with Anysim. I then went up to 1.1.1 through the iunlock.no method where all the scripting was taken care of via installing the files from his simple tutorial. After that it was OK til i went to install some new third party apps and then all hell broke loose. It started with my battery draining fairly quickly one day in normal operational mode and then could not recharge successfully. I then experienced a problem where the phone would trigger Itunes which would then ask to restore and it would attempt this and get the 1604 (and 1603) errors....and then it went to black and nothing after about 15-20 attempts at the restore method. I have been charging my phone through my ipod car charger, USB on my Macs, and the wall plug via a transformer(as we have 240v in Aust). I now cannot get any functionality from the phone. It simply wont boot from anywhere. Given that a number of people have suggested that charging the phone from non iphone sources will fry the phone(possibly)will replacing the battery help my cause at all. Please advise
