An unsuccessful attempt to change my email password on the provider's server left me unable to connect Apple Mail to the email server of my internet provider. Working with tech reps from both the provider and Apple has left me in an email no-mans land. If I Restore the computer to a date just before the unsuccessful password change attempt, is there a chance that will fix the issue?

Your isp should easily be able to reset your password... this has to be one of the most common requests. Call them back and ask to speak with a tech support person with at least 11 brain cells.

It is very unlikely any attempt to restore your computer will resolve the issue. My guess is that you successfully reset your password but do not remember what you reset it to.

One thing to try is to use imap instead of pop, assuming you do not already use imap.
