Will running OS X in VMWare allow Garageband to work fine?

Hi. I want to run Mac in VMWare just for garageband. My friend brought over his Mac yesterday and it acted as an amazing amp.

If I run garageband in VM, will it recognize the connection from my electric guitar. Will the performance be ok or will the sound lag and sound crappy inside VMWare?

You mean from within Windows or Linux?

Virtual Hackintoshes are not any more legal or easier to get working than real ones. It won't work. In fact, I don't think it will work even if the Windows or Linux machine happens to be a legit Mac.
