Just wondering if the 7 will be water resistant, I know it’s advertised as 50m water resistant but I’m wondering more so what apples attitude will be to customers who go swimming with their 7’s and encounter water ingress, I see from existing posts that it’s a battle to get a replacement for water ingress despite the 50m wr?

Apple says their products are completely suitable for swimming but also that they will never provide warranty for water damage.

So if you feel lucky that you didn’t get one with a manufacturing defect then you will be fine, otherwise you lose everything.

Bit of a gamble isn’t it, I wonder if other watch manufacturers have the same policy I haven’t checked, maybe they do ? Interesting….

From the Apple webpage for Series 7 watch:

"Apple Watch Series 7, Apple Watch SE, and Apple Watch Series 3 have a water resistance rating of 50 meters under ISO standard 22810:2010. This means that they may be used for shallow-water activities like swimming in a pool or ocean. However, they should not be used for scuba diving, waterskiing, or other activities involving high-velocity water or submersion below shallow depth. Series 7 is also rated IP6X dust resistant."

Sounds to me as though these watches are not intended for what I'd call 'serious' frequent use in water. They do have the feature to remove any water that gets into the watch, but personally I'd be pretty hesitant to wear one of these watches while swimming.

Interesting, have swam with my watch for years with no issues.
So did I with my previous S3. No issue at all.

I guess the reason why Apple doesn’t cover water damage in warranty is they have no way to know how that damage happens, which is understandable.

pretty sure most manufacturers of diving watches recommend you check the seals every 12 months too. I could be wrong.

The S0 was even water resistant. They did not advertise it that way, however. Back then there were many YouTube videos submerging the watch underwater with timers. After numerous videos showed the watch underwater for extended periods of time with no damage, I decided to start wearing mine in the ocean and in the shower. I never had any issues.
