Will setting up the new iPhone 4S from a backup cause any performance hit/issues?

Anyone have any insights into this? Can you potentially transfer glitches etc? Will/can it be slower?

Part of me imagines that it'd be better to set up as new but it'd take a long time to re-customise everything as I had it on my old phone so I'm trying to avoid it if possible!

I will upgrade to iOS5 on Wednesday or Thursday and the activate via the cloud. I would assume that would work.
