Since Siri is in beta, how is it actually beta-tested if the only device it can run on is iPhone 4S, which is not available until October 14th? Does it mean that Siri will not be available on day one in order to allow some time for beta-testing?

I'm confused.

Think of it like a Google beta, it's being tested and built on but still basically a full product.

Yes, I understand it'd be totally absurd not to offer the revolutionary feature on day one. But then Phil kept saying during the keynote that Siri is in beta, Siri is in beta. Who is beta-testing it? How? Where?

I mean, iOS 5 is in beta. Understandable. It's beta-tested by us on our test devices aka iPhone 4.

Maybe I just don't fully understand the way beta-testing works. Sorry.
