So is everyone thinking that if you upgrade to a 3GS that the 3G will brick like last year? I've tried a couple times to get them(both AT&T and Apple) to reactivate my 1st gen iPhone. And I always get the same excuse that I would have to sign a new contract. Also is anyone thinking about paying full price for a 3GS in hopes of getting whatever model that comes out next year at the subsidized price? I feel like if they keep coming out with new models and if I keep getting the new one that soon I will have signed onto AT&T for the rest of my life. So I'm not sure if it would be better to get sign on two more years or just pay more.

Won't brick if you are able to unlock it. If you installed 3.0 already though, you updated the baseband, and you will have a brick unless you have an ATT sim.
