Will the 5S be available unlocked at launch?

Hey guys... so whats the rumored launch month for the 5S.. Sept. or Oct.?

and will I be able to snag one unlocked at launch

I keep hearing August - September. So probably September. And yes, I'd imagine you'd be able to get one unlocked at the launch.

I wouldn't be so sure. I don't remember when it was available for the 5, but I know for sure that it wasn't available for approx a month after 4s release.

I can't remember an iPhone launch where unlocked ones were immediately available.

Are you sure about one month? I seem to recall it being a few months after the release before I got my unlocked 4S from Apple.

In the past the unlocked version always came a bit after the launch. I would expect the same thing to happen here.

I'm thinking they'll have to make them available at launch for T-Mobile customers that want to buy it directly from Apple. I don't see why they'd sell them a locked phone when they're paying full price.

Are you sure about one month? I seem to recall it being a few months after the release before I got my unlocked 4S from Apple.

The 4s was released October 14 and I thought the unlocked was released mid-November, but it may have been later.

Google is a useful tool. Try "iphone 5 unlocked now available"

Found this -- iphone 5 unlocked version became available 30 November, a couple months after release.

For the 4S and 5, Apple waited a month or so before selling the official unlocked versions in the US, but if you purchase one at full price even on launch day, it will come unlocked anyway. I did this for both the 4S and the 5.
