So my lovely magsafe cord melted... oh yes.

So basically I need a cord like first thing tomorrow morning. My local reseller only has the MBP version in stock can I use that or will I end up melting my mac?

Thanks for any replies :)

It'll be fine. The MacBook will draw only as much power as it needs.

Nah, it should work just fine. You just want to be careful going the other way around(macbook cord/mbp) because the adapter can't both charge the battery and run the computer at the same time.

It'll be fine. When my current adapter catches fire (the way they all do), I plan to replace it with an MBP adapter, in the hopes of procuring a slightly longer lifetime from its slightly thicker (though equally defective) wiring.

Well, maybe that was a slight exaggeration :^)...but yeah, keep an eye on that Magsafe--particulary where the cable connects to the laptop. That's where they tend to fray/fry.

haha, thanks anyways...I read all these posts about defective macs and what-not and it freaks me out...

mine has been good (so far)....tu tu tu...(knock on wood)

So yeah I called Apple and they are sending me a free adapter even though my apple care is up.

my MBP adapter fried where the thinner part comes out of the brick. but that was months ago, and the new (smaller) one has been fine. so far...

as far as the OP, a friend was over tonight with her MB, and w/o her cord. when her battery died i found this thread, and indeed, my MBP adapter charged her MB without catching it on fire. try that on a pc.

thanks y'all. graduate thesis project saved!
