Will the install disc from my 1.1 mini work on my 2.1 mini w/10.5.4?

I have a NIB C2D mini with installed 10.5.4 Leopard. Can I wipe the HHD and then install the 10.4.7 Tiger disk from my earlier model CD mini?

If not, will it work if I install Tiger on an external HD and then firewire it to a wiped C2D?

I have older SW I still want to use and don't need the upgrade Leopard.
 
Install discs are only for certain product because they include drivers that are only needed in certain Mac. Why don't you get Snow Leopard upgrade? It's only 29$
