I’m thinking about upgrading from the ipad 2 to the ipad 2 air but I was wondering if using the adapter will output the ipad to full screen on my TV’s. With my ipad 2 I use the connector with hdmi for use when I travel or even at home sometimes however I always get the side bars because the ipad is in 4:3 as I’ve read. I was hoping with the air 2 that this isn’t an issue.

Can someone confirm and apple TV is not an option.

The aspect ratio of the iPad 2 to the iPad Air (2) didn't change - so I would expect it to be 4:3, unless you're watching a movie on an app.

I sometimes use XBMC to stream a movie and its 4:3 so I need to stretch my view mode on the TV which I don't like doing.
