Apple recently announced native support for 360 video in visionOS 26 so I’ve been reading up on cameras that capture 360 video .

In the article linked below, this caught my eye:
Is there any chance the new iPhone would be capable of recording 360 video?

An 8k dual lens camera sounds an awful lot like the 360 cameras I’ve been reading about. 🤔

Dual – front and rear – video would address a different use case where the person doing the recording wants to capture their face with the front camera and whatever they're shooting with the rear. That's different than true 360 degree video, which requires a 180 degree FOV and the same specs for both cameras.

I think 8k video recording will mostly be useful to allow for cropping and zooming in post while still producing a decent result at lower resolution.

You’re right. I didn’t think about needing the 180° cameras. I’m just excited about the native support coming this fall and got into a bit of wishful thinking.
