The great state of Texas
There is a significant amount of people who want an IPAD with a bigger screen, usb, quality keyboard, More storage etc. Other vendors already have a hybrid Table/Laptop.
It appears to be and easy jump to allow the 11s and maybe the 13s inch screen to add touch screen feature and the ability to swing completely to the rear allowing tablet mode. This can be done while keeping the standard laptop design. I know the other MFGs who tried this has resulted in a Poor laptop & tablet all in one. But I think Apple could pull this off, I think it would be a very attractive option.

Do you think people would go for that? Would apple ever offer that?

Probably not in the near future. Apple has said back in 2009 that they experimented with touch screen laptops.

Although with so many other touchscreen laptops, Apple might consider it again.
If they would do that, they would probably have to optimize OS X for touchscreen first.

Will Apple follow Microsoft's path? That would be insanity to the ^million.
