Will the next iPad have a new dock connection?

Hello,
First time poster, long time follower. I am considering getting the new iPad. But now with the recent rumors circling around a new dock connection with the iPhone, do you think it's worth waiting for the next iPad? It would suck having to use adapters for either or but I don't want to wait around on just rumors. What do you all think?

For what you need the connector ?

Power ? Doesn't matter ...
Data ? mostly wireless these days ?
Audio ? use Bluetooth instead with AirPlay

HDMI cable ? will not be expensive ..

But if you can wait I'm sure the iPad 2013 will have the new connector too.
