Will the old Prev Gen Macbook Accept DDR3 RAM?

Basically, I am going to upgrade from the stock 2GB of DDR3 Ram on my new UMBP and upgrade to 4GB, I was just going to sell my old set of 1GB sticks on ebay or something, but then thought that it would be a good idea to put the 2GB into my mums prev gen MB, but then didn't know whether it would take DDR3.

Can it be done? Has anyone upgraded to DDR3 sticks on there older MB's?
