Will the Optical Audio work the same way in Boot Camp as in Mac OS?

I know that the headphone jack is also an digital optical audio out and will automatically beam that light when i connect a TosLink to it, but will it automatically do the same on boot camp, Windows 7? or is there a an option that i have to set somewhere in windows 7 [, because i cant find it]?

(I'm waiting for my TosLink Adapter to come in the mail, I don't know if it'll work if i plug a regular 3.5 audio cable in it)

Were you ever able to figure out this issue? I have tried an optical cable in the headphone port with no success under bootcamp with Windows 7...

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
