If the Verizon store is selling Verizon iPhones then they will be selling unlocked Verizon iPhones because all Verizon iPhones are unlocked.

They sold me one last year off contract, first day of the iPhone 5. They were quite surprised that I was willing to shell out that much cash for a phone until I explained to them how much I use data and how it would save money in the long run. This was at a corporate store.

Shouldn't have an issue unless they changed policies since then.

For the 5C, their website will sell you one on a month to month basis, but you have to pick a plan with them. Not sure about in store.
