Will there be a new MacBook Pro release this year?
Looking to buy one for college this year but not sure if i should wait since they usually release something new this month ...

This question has been asked numerous times over the last few days.

No. Next year with Broadwell, than Skylake later, which will be a better upgrade over Broadwell. Need it now, get it. Can wait, do so early next year. Both todays minor update and Broadwell will be minor updates and both will do probably what you need.

They just released new ones earlier in the summer. It's not a huge upgrade over the late-2013, but it's probably the soonest we'll see new MacBook Pros before next year.

The comment before you was terse and condescending. Thanks for giving a straightforward answer.

If you don't have major RAM requirements (heavy apps), 8 GB will suit you nicely. My rMBP is 8 GB and I have no issues even running heavy-ish apps (Photoshop and the like).

yeah i think 8gb should be good,
the only tasks i do that might require some ram is windows 7 - movie maker ...
