I was thinking about upgrading my iMac, but I was waiting for the M5 to come out. However, all the rumors are about the MacBook, but nothing about the iMac.

It's true that iMac upgrades tend to happen later than MacBook upgrades, so I don't know whether to wait or not.

What do you think?

50/50

It'll either happen or it won't. I personally don't keep up to date with leaks or anything but really it just seems to come down to if Apple can be bothered or not - I guess we'll have our answer by next month

If what you have now works why stress?
Still waiting for a 27" iMac lol.
Me too. I'm hanging on to my 2017 27", I really don't want to go down to the current 23.5 inch, and I am not spending $3.000+ on a Mac Mini/Studio display combo until and if I am forced to. My 2017, with its i7, SSD and 64GB of RAM is still swift enough for the work I need to do on it, and stable as a rock. The only issue is that Ventura is the last MacOS supported on it, and support is ending (or has ended). I tried and really don't trust the OCLP on an income-producing machine. So I will be careful as I always have been, and I started using Firefox ESR (which is very fast), which will continue to be supported, instead of Safari.

Nuff said :)

I wonder how many people would get new Macs if Apple cut the support time by half?

Don't blame ya.

To me that's the KEY being careful :)
instead of Safari.
I use Firefox and a little Safari but will look into this ESR.

I not excited. Partly my currently M3 iMac which I bought in Feb 2024 starting to have lines suddenly appear which quite a lot M series iMac users encounter upon using it for one year + haven't even reach 2 years or so Lines appear.

There are evidence due to the M series iMac design inside. You can simply just google around there. I not say hardware experts. Summary is the M series screen and display ribbon etc can easily over heat. In order to replace have to change the entire screen too. According from that tech person. He mention why a lot report there are lines suddenly appear upon using for one year so coincidence partly due to this. He mention even one go replace the screen, the Lines problem will come back after One year of usage.

You know is a a stick put at a fire slowly pull into it , eventually the stick already gone like that. DO note I love using Apple products. I not rant here. I even owned other older iMac EPIC the screen at least still ok , at least don't have lines but do have pinkish hue or burn mark if watch Youtube video or stream for sometimes but eventually it will fade off at least. Next this old intel iMac already use for years. I bought it at 2015 still working, now next to this M3 iMac I typing now.

I have to see the design the " casing of this iMac but I feel will be the same just like M1 to M3 iMac. "
