I just got this email from 1daysale.com offering me a check for $250 for my 1st generation iPhone. Seems too good to be true. Is it?

"FREE iPhone 3G Upgrade! Send Us Your USED 4GB 8GB or 16GB iPhone for $150 $250 or $350 Cash Back! We Will Also Cover The Express Shipping Both Ways!"

You can sell it for way more on ebay or craigslist.

I know it is a bad deal but...

I know it seems that I could get an extra hundred bucks or so by putting it on Ebay but I was wondering if anyone has any experience selling their phones to 1daysale.com? I am going on a week long trip and it seems less difficult to send it off the day I leave than to go through the mess of ebay, hacking my old iphone and dealing with a buyer.

Are you kidding? I got $400 for my old used 8gb 1st gen iPhone on craigslist. I wouldn't take $250 unless that came with a free 3G.

Also, 1daysale .com is not a real company... its a deactivated affiliate website. Maybe you mean 1 sale a day? (totally different site).

people are buying them for parts.

I sold my friends ORIGINAL iphone, 8gb, with the original box / manuals/ headphones / charger and dock. It sold for $390.00 on ebay. No, it was not unlocked. We sold it about 2 weeks ago.

For the people who have already sold their 2Gs on eBay...

I have one day left for mine up on eBay. Is there anything I need to know about pitfalls to avoid? I do have the receipt (which one person asked for), wiped it fully, unlocked and jailbroke it on v2.0 software. I should be good to go, yes? I don't need to call Apple and tell them I am selling it to transfer the warranty or anything? Sorry, first time selling something like this on eBay. I've sold tons of other stuff, but this is unique :)

Thanks!

Emptyg, also pull your old SIM out. Make sure you package it well, have some insurance with whoever you ship with and require a signature on delivery.

As you've sold on eBay before, I'm sure you already know, but it never hurts to have a reminder.

ONLY ship to the shipping address listed on the paypal payment confirmation, and since the item is valued over $250, make sure to require a signature on delivery. Paypal used to require a Confirmed shipping address, but recently relaxed the requirement to any shipping address, as long as its listed with the account.

Good tips - yeah I did pull the SIM out, right after I jailbroke it :)

Agreed - I only use paypal (eBay doesn't give you a choice when selling your iPhone anyways), and ONLY ship to their verified address. It's likely this will be going overseas, so that should be interesting since I have never shipped overseas before.

Thanks for the tips!
